Little wonder, since they are anything but simple to produce. Any bottle hoping to claim that classification must fulfil a strict set of requirements.
For those interested in learning more about the challenging production process for Champagne's little brother, the Winegrowing Collective at Domaines Vinsmoselle in Wormeldange is an excellent starting point.
From the outside, the historically listed Art Deco building looks like a relic of the age of nobility. Yet in truth it was erected in the 1930s as a winery. One notable feature is its multi-layered attic that stretches high towards the heavens.
Various blends are of course also available for tasting. And the winery makes Sunday afternoons a day for celebration, with a live band greeting visitors with dancing music.
