Slip the name “Trittenheimer Apotheke” into a conversation and the ears of any Riesling fan will immediately perk up.
You won’t find prescriptions or medicines at this apothecary — but you will discover one of the most coveted spots in the entire Mosel Valley.
The “Fährfels”, as the oldest part of the vineyard is known, features vines that are firmly documented as having been planted in 1900.
The Clüsserath-Weiler wine estate has the privilege of cultivating on this famous hillside. Hilde, Helmut and daughter Verena Clüsserath are responsible for producing wines with a typical Mosel character.
The estate’s Riesling is known for its minerality and is featured on wine lists in many fine restaurants.
The old cross-vault cellar holds space for Clüsserath-Weiler bottles to mature — beautiful wines that are naturally also available for tasting here at the estate. Feel free to partake and then stay overnight in any of the seven individually furnished guest rooms in the elegant patrician house.
You certainly won’t go hungry. Classically trained chef Raphael Ianniello, husband to Verena and a former student of world-class chef Johann Lafer, will tend to your culinary needs.
He also offers cooking courses and events on a regular basis.
