S.A. Prüm wine estate in Wehlen

The simple mention of the name “Prüm” is sure to perk up the ears of many Riesling enthusiasts.

The family has been active in viticulture throughout the Middle Mosel for over 860 years. It was a Prüm who constructed the original sundial in the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard.

Sebastian Alois Prüm founded S.A. Prüm in 1911.

The estate's century-old granary still welcomes visitors with a historical flair. Its impressive rustic architecture reflects its original use as a storehouse for grain and livestock feed.

The roof of the former hay barn was built in the Zollinger style and is reminiscent of an inverted ship. This room is now used as an event hall.

The space under its imposing wood beams is now a favourite location for the estate’s young wine tastings and culinary events — as well as more than a few weddings.

Saskia Andrea Prüm, a university-trained viticultural expert whose initials are a perfect fit, currently holds the reins.

And now as then, the estate is completely dedicated to all things Riesling.

You'd need plenty of time to taste your way through all the different types of Prüm wines in its tasting room.
