The commission was clear: build a winery and attached wine bar that blend seamlessly into the landscape.

The architectural offices of Wirty & Wirty pulled it off masterfully, thanks to colours and structures in the construction materials that harmonise beautifully with the surrounding vineyard.

The wood-clad upper storey sits on a pedestal of exposed aggregate concrete with a highly visible gravel texture. Another notable element is the green background shimmering through the wood slats of the façade.

The Luxembourg firm is known for its sustainable architecture projects, with a focus on gentle handling of natural resources and low impact on the environment. It's a concept that winemaker Jeff Konsbrück sees reflected in his estate's winemaking philosophy.

Wood also dominates the wine bar, where customers can taste crémant, Riesling or Gewürztraminer to the warm red and yellow tones of an autumn vineyard. The vines of the Palmberg rustle just on the other side of the large-paned windows, almost close enough to touch.
